At the 54th General Assembly of the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AMFI), members reviewed the Association’s achievements and discussed the key priorities shaping the future development of the microfinance sector. More than 70% of the Assembly members attended the meeting.<\/p>

The Assembly approved the implementation reports on AMFI’s 2026 second-quarter Budget and Operational Plan, while discussions focused on several strategic priorities, including:<\/p>

  • developing a sector-wide Dashboard platform, standardising data and strengthening ESG reporting;<\/li>
  • accelerating the digital transformation and modernization of member institutions;<\/li>
  • aligning the sector with European regulatory and market standards in consumer protection, digital financial services and sustainable finance;<\/li>
  • strengthening dialogue with regulators, international financial institutions, investors and development partners;<\/li>
  • expanding international projects and access to technical assistance and new funding opportunities;<\/li>
  • advancing regional cooperation through the MicroBalkans Alliance<\/strong> and preparations for the MicroBalkans 2026 Conference<\/strong>, to be held in Skopje, North Macedonia, from 24\u201326 September 2026<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>

    \u00a0<\/p>

    MicroBalkans 2026<\/strong> will bring together representatives of microfinance and other financial institutions, regulators, investors, fintech and IT companies, as well as international and European development partners. The conference will focus on financial inclusion, financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), digital lending, access to capital and regulatory developments linked to the European integration process.<\/p>

    Through these initiatives, AMFI continues to improve the quality of sector data, reduce reporting costs, strengthen the institutional capacities of its members and enhance the international positioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s microfinance sector within the European financial ecosystem.<\/p>

    The meeting was hosted at the new headquarters of MKO EKI<\/strong>. Following the formal session, participants toured the institution’s new energy-efficient office building, featuring a solar power system and an A+ energy certificate<\/strong>, demonstrating how ESG principles can be successfully integrated into business operations.<\/p>

    Members also visited the permanent exhibition of artworks created through the public competition “Investing in Youth and Community”<\/strong>, launched by EKI to mark its 30th anniversary. The initiative connects the financial sector with educational institutions, young people and local communities, while promoting sustainability and social responsibility. The institutional award was presented to the Tuzla School of Civil Engineering and Geodesy<\/strong>.<\/p>

    We extend our sincere appreciation to Esad Uzuni\u0107<\/strong>, Director of MKO EKI, host and Chair of the 54th AMFI General Assembly, for his leadership, warm hospitality and for presenting EKI’s long-term development vision.<\/p>
