Because finance matters when it makes something possible that otherwise might not happen.<\/b><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Day one of <b>MicroBalkans 26<\/b> in Skopje brought this question to the centre of the discussion through the panel <b>\u201cWhy We Matter: The Role of Non-Bank Lending in the Western Balkans,\u201d<\/b> moderated by <b>Elma Zuki\u0107, President of AMFI BiH<\/b>.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Together with <b>Gabriele Giuglietti (Banca Etica\/Cresud), Visar Perani (IFC), Milena Hane\u0161 (Mikrofin) and Aleksandar Iljov (Halkbank AD Skopje)<\/b>, the discussion explored who microfinance serves today, how clients can grow from microbusinesses to SMEs, the relationship between banks and non-bank lenders, and the growing importance of responsible finance, measurable impact and green finance.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Microfinance has changed significantly over the past 30 years \u2014 from simple small loans to digital solutions, ESG, green finance and new technologies.
