The Association of Microfinance Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AMFI) organized the professional workshop “Practical Application of the Personal Data Protection Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, bringing together representatives of the financial sector, regulatory institutions, academia, and data protection professionals.
Through this event, AMFI once again reaffirmed its role as a platform that connects regulators, industry practitioners, and the academic community with the aim of strengthening knowledge, professional standards, and best practices across the sector.
A key focus of the workshop was the experience and challenges arising from the first year of implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law. Regulatory and practical perspectives on compliance and implementation were presented by Marijana Sentić, Head of the Director’s Office at the Personal Data Protection Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Nedžmija Kukričar, data protection expert, trainer, and educator.
The academic perspective on personal data protection in the context of digital transformation and artificial intelligence was presented by Prof. Dr. Lejla Turulja, while Dr. Haris Hamidović shared the results of AMFI’s sector-wide survey on the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law one year after its adoption. The research, conducted among microfinance institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, provided valuable insights into the current state of compliance and implementation. Merjema Mekić of EOS MATRIX Bosnia and Herzegovina contributed with practical perspectives on data governance and building a strong privacy culture within organizations.
The workshop was opened by AMFI President Elma Zukić and Petar Mrkonjić, Director of EOS MATRIX Sarajevo, who emphasized the importance of continuous education and cooperation among all relevant stakeholders.
The discussion session was moderated by Atifa Hodžić from Partner Microcredit Organization, while Adisa Mujkić highlighted in her closing remarks that personal data protection is a cornerstone of trust, credibility, and the long-term sustainability of institutions.
AMFI extends its sincere gratitude to all participants, speakers, and partners, with special appreciation to EOS MATRIX Bosnia and Herzegovina for their support and sponsorship of this event.
