“Finance alone is not enough. We need finance, knowledge and action.”
With this message, Elma Zukić, President of AMFI BiH, shared at MicroBalkans 26 the journey that AMFI and Habitat for Humanity International have been building together since 2023, with the goal of bringing energy efficiency closer to households.
The partnership has grown into concrete action – sector training and capacity building, a conference on household energy transition, practical educational materials, and, in July 2026, the first Energy Savings Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The first campaign brought together seven AMFI members and generated more than 31,000 reach and impressions in just one week.
But the most important lesson goes beyond the numbers. Microfinance institutions already have what matters most – direct relationships with clients, a strong presence in local communities, and the ability to connect finance with knowledge and action.
