The Association of Microfinance Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AMFI), in cooperation with the European Microfinance Network (EMN), is pleased to announce the Call for Researchers under the Maria Nowak Research Fellowship 2026.
The Maria Nowak Research Fellowship is a prestigious European initiative that supports applied research in the field of financial inclusion by connecting researchers and academia with organizations operating in the microfinance sector.
Research Topic
This year’s research assignment is carried out in cooperation with AMFI and focuses on:
“Women’s Financial Inclusion in the Microfinance Sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina”
The research aims to analyse the current state of women’s financial inclusion, identify key gaps and barriers, and develop a standardized framework of outreach and outcomes indicators aligned with European practices. The findings will contribute to improved sector reporting, evidence-based policy-making, and stronger advocacy for women’s financial inclusion.
The Fellowship
The selected researcher will:
- conduct the research in cooperation with AMFI and its member institutions;
- develop recommendations and a standardized framework for measuring women’s financial inclusion;
- prepare a final consultancy report and an academic paper.
The Fellowship provides a research grant of EUR 10,000.
Who Can Apply?
The call is open to researchers with experience in areas such as:
- finance and microfinance;
- financial inclusion;
- economics;
- social sciences;
- gender equality;
- data analysis and applied research.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in financial inclusion research, indicator development, and quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
