At the MicroBalkans25 conference, the first Policy Forum brought together regulators, ministry representatives, central banks and microfinance experts to jointly consider how legal frameworks, EU policies and market practices can advance inclusive and sustainable finance in the Western Balkans. The discussion covered access to EU financial instruments, the development of strategies for the social economy, digitalisation and modern payment systems, as well as the role of microfinance in strengthening women’s entrepreneurship and supporting youth.
Regional initiatives such as the Women’s Finance Code were highlighted as examples of policies that can shape stronger social and economic impact. The Forum also contributed to the Social Economy Gateway initiative, offering valuable insights and feedback that will inform future EU and national reforms.
See key messages and insights that opened the way for better alignment of policies and practices for a more inclusive development of the region.
