At the MicroBalkans25 conference, Spotlight Session 2 focused on the key role of microfinance institutions in accelerating the green transition in the Western Balkans, with a particular emphasis on the development of green housing microfinance. Through collaboration with national and regional MFI associations, the session demonstrated how partnerships, innovative financing models and awareness-raising can enable faster access to energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable housing solutions.
Participants highlighted the importance of establishing clear mechanisms for channeling targeted financial support, building capacity and creating practical instruments that enable clients to invest in better quality, greener and more sustainable homes.
