We were especially grateful and honoured to have the presence of the Vice Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Emir Kurtić, whose participation enriched the discussion and deepened insights into key topics.

The conversation was further energised by a thought-provoking question from Ana Kentera, CEO of MFI Alter Modus and President of the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Montenegro, which opened meaningful reflections on future cooperation and regulatory challenges across the region.

Regulators, ministries, central banks, and microfinance practitioners explored how legal frameworks, EU policies, and market practices can advance inclusive and sustainable finance in the Western Balkans.

The discussion addressed access to EU financial instruments, the development of social economy strategies, digitalisation and payment systems, and the role of microfinance in supporting women’s entrepreneurship and youth.

Regional initiatives such as the Women’s Finance Code were highlighted as examples of how gender-focused policies can drive social and economic impact.

This forum also contributed to the Social Economy Gateway and gathers practitioner feedback to inform future EU and national reforms.
